Our Mission...
To replace the existing hall built in 1922 and originally a Nissan Hut, which is now outdated beyond economic repair and becoming dangerously not-fit-for purpose. Weak structurally, subsiding in the south-west corner it poses health, safety and environmental risks to the community and its present user groups.
Debden Village Hall Trust have grave concerns that the building will be condemned within the next 18 months.
The new build will be a flexible, multi-purpose and environmentally sustainable building providing a larger main hall opening out onto the recreation ground enabling access to sports and outdoor events.
To provide disabled facilities - the existing building has inadequate disabled access with just a ramp to the main hall, no access to the kitchen and toilets because of steps, and no toilet facilities.
The new hall will be on a new site adjacent to the existing hall and backing onto Debden recreation ground. Once built, the old hall will be demolished and a new car park and landscaping will be laid. This will enable village life to continue while construction is taking place. The new hall will regenerate the heart of our lovely village.
To completely change and enhance local community life spanning all generations within the Parish of Debden, Essex and complete the building of the new hall by end 2022
